Early in the morning, before most of the bar is awake, a tiny time traveler visits the kitchen. She would stay at home for a late-night snack, usually, but...

Well.

Ace already knows way too much about the Wells' romantic life, and about one picosecond downstairs at the farm let her know that sticking around would only teach her more. And since Bar was getting a break in the quiet hours of the night, Ace decides to fetch a snack herself. It's really too bad she left her current project on top of the microwave when she left.

"Well, you see, it's not as easy as going 'yay, souffle'... well, actually, that's pretty much the whole plan, but you have to make it a flavor first, and there's all sorts of flavors." Oswin explain, her nerves translating to babble as she leads them into the kitchen.

Autor does as instructed, finding a smaller saucepan. "And this is for the chocolate chips?"

"Ah, I see," Autor says, adjusting his glasses. He melts the butter, lifting the pan and tilting it from side to side to spread the butter around. "Have the chips?"

Autor opens the bag and starts pouring the chips into the pan. They clink and clatter, but Autor notices a leg of a spider. "Oh, gross," he says, wrinkling his nose. "Oswin, there's a--"

And that's when he glances back to the bag and sees the half dozen wolf spiders skittering over his hands.

Autor screams and drops the bag immediately--which lands in the saucepan. There are spiders and they tickle him and they've got fangs and eyes and--he squeaks and leaps back from the oven, brushing them off his hands and forearms.

He steps on one with a satisfying crunch.

"Why are they so big?" he screeches.

Click. Click. Autor turns the heat off after making sure he's not covered by any eight-legged terrors. He seizes Oswin's hand and drags her out of the kitchen with a quiet, terrified, "Run!"
